SUNDAY SPECIAL:GIZDODO OF LIFE

Sunday, September 25, 2016

You know Sundays are special when it comes to meals here in Nigeria.I don't know why.Why do you think it's like that?We have special meals for some days like akara for Saturdays and rice for Sundays.Husband&I have been salivating over gizdodo meals online for the longest time,we've just never been completely prepared to make it.It's either we have green pepper and no gizzard or one thing and not the other but we decided we must eat it this Sunday so this is how I made it.

INGREDIENTS
Gizzard(1kg)
Green Peppers & Tatashe aka bell pepper)
Plantains(4 big ones)
Ground tomatoes & peppers(atarodo&Shombo)aka scotch bonnet & jalapeno
Maggi Chicken
Curry
Thyme
Ground ginger&Garlic
Salt
Groundnut oil
Onions
Ground dry yellow pepper

PROCEDURE

I'm going to chop all of these. The onions are for cooking the gizzard and for making the sauce.

I seasoned my gizzard with maggi, salt, ginger&garlic, curry&thyme.

Here the gizzard is cooked and I've drained out the water and then I let it cool a bit so I could cut it into small pieces since I forgot to do that before cooking it.

Next I fried..

In went the plantain as well.

Once I was done frying the plantain&gizzard I left some of that oil in the wok and when it was hot I poured in my sliced onions and let it fry till it was almost brown, the green and red peppers went in next and then the ground tomatoes& peppers and then I left it to fry for a while to get rid of any sour taste(the type that can slap you).

Once it's fried and you see the oil chilling on top you know it's about to go down. You throw in the stars of the show.

Then Stir carefully so you don't mash up your plantains.

No words!!Just give a round of applause for whoever came up with gizzard and dodo sharing the same spotlight.

This is how I had mine.
Sunday was good!!
Everybody was happy!!

HAVE YOU HAD GIZDODO BEFORE?HOW WAS IT?WAS IT MADE DIFFERENTLY?

  1. Just about to go to bed and I see this! I used to be obsessed with gizzard (okay, I actually still am). And I first discovered Gizdodo like 3 years ago!! It is amazing, and I make it pretty much like this. Ok, maybe I'll have to make some next weekend. Because I've got some gizzard at the moment. Really clear photos! Love it!!
