How To make Delicious Sauce for Akara

Thursday, July 21, 2016

Long time no food post aye?I've been making regular meals jare but I finally ate akara.I've been wanting to eat akara for the past 2 weeks and I always woke up lazy to make it.However it got to a point I couldn't take it anymore ''before I chop am for dream''.Now I feel berra.
I was on  Precious of  PreciousCore's website who is a darling blogger I've now gotten to love so much and I saw she did a food post on akara and the sauce to go with.My mouth was watering so kiakia the next day I made mine and here's how I made it.There's nothing special about this sauce except I loved the infusion of garlic and ginger.
I haven't made sauce for akara before but I've had it from those women that sell fries back in my uni days.
Just in case you didn't know Akara is blended beans with the back taken off that is deep fried.
I season mine with salt, onions and a little crayfish. You can also put prawns if you want.

I use:
TOMATOES,SCOTCH BONNETS aka Atarodo,BELL PEPPERS aka Tatashe & JALAPENOS OR CHILLI PEPPER aka Shombo and ONIONS.

I was getting read to fry my akara.

 Akara done!Now for the sauce.
First I fried my onions.I did not let them fry for long because I love to see them in my food.
Here I just put in my blended tomatoes and pepper which I blended with ginger and garlic, maggi and salt into the oil.

I had it with pap aka Ogi and it was so delicious and filling too.

What do you love to eat your akara with?

  2. I have never heard of Akara before and I had to google it and found out it is Fried bean cake. It looks really delicious though and as a vegetarian, this looks like something I could eat since I don't believe there's any eat in it? The finish product looks yummy!

Is that crayfish? I've never added crayfish to my Akara but it sounds like something that will inject more taste into my bean cakes.
    The sauce looks delish!
