Strobing:The new "ish"

Wednesday, July 22, 2015

Hello lovelies,So if you are familiar with the going on's in the makeup world and you are updated then you would have heard of the new term 'strobing'.I know some people will be thinking 'i haven't even mastered the art of highlight&contour and there's a new technique' lol! Does it sound complicated? It's no big deal actually.

So what is strobing?
Strobing focuses exclusively on highlighter, applied where light will naturally hit your face (cheekbones, brow bones, center of your forehead, cupid's bow, down your nose).Dabbing on shimmery shades will make your complexion look radiant, fresh and healthy while giving it a dash of oomph.
The good thing is you don't have to feel suffocated with layers and layers of makeup especially on hot days because you're only using one extra product.

Since strobing is all about getting the perfect glow you will need to do this:

  • Moisturize your skin with a hydrating moisturizer to take away any dullness or flakiness.
  • Make sure the highlighter you're using compliments your skin tone for a subtle glow
  • Put highlighter on only those areas where light hits, anywhere else will make you look greasy and you'll just look like a moving disco ball.
  • To look beautifully glowy use matte products all through and then go in with a shimmery highlight.

Let me tell you what i think.I think it's awesome that you can add some definition and glow without too many products.Contouring can be a bit tedious especially when you use cream or liquid because then you have to set it all and that just piles on the makeup. This has always been around,i probably did it without even knowing i was strobing. They also call it contour for lazy girls, hehe! I think they are right because contouring is not child's play .You have to do it right if you don't want to look burnt or like you have a bad tan.

So i will have a meeting with my highlighters and i will get back to you with my own strobing video. It's easy so why not!!
